1.1. This Privacy Policy (this "Policy") describes how SemSolved (the "Company," "we," or "us") handles the information of individuals (each a "User" or "you") who access or use the SemSolved website, browser extension, study bot, and related features (collectively, the "Service").

1.2. By using the Service, you accept the practices set out in this Policy. Where a particular practice requires your consent under applicable law, your continued use signifies that consent.

Article 2 — Categories of Information We Collect

2.1. Account and identity information. Information you supply to create and operate an account, which may include your name, email address, chosen username, credentials, and details of your school or grade level.

2.2. Authentication and access records. Information used to manage entry to the Service, including User and external account identifiers, authentication tokens, session records, subscription keys, and access history maintained for security purposes.

2.3. Usage information. Information describing how you interact with the Service, including access dates and times, feature and setting selections, interactions with automated features, and session activity.

2.4. Device and technical information. Information collected to secure and improve the Service, including your IP address and approximate location, browser type and version, operating-system and device attributes, and diagnostic or error logs.

2.5. Payment information. Information necessary to process a purchase, such as a billing email or card details, which is handled through our payment processors.

Article 3 — How We Use Information

3.1. The Company uses the information described in Article 2 to:

  • authenticate Users and authorize access to the Service;
  • operate, maintain, and improve the Service and its automated features;
  • process purchases and administer subscriptions;
  • detect, investigate, and prevent unauthorized access, fraud, or abuse;
  • provide support and respond to your requests; and
  • meet legal and regulatory obligations.

3.2. The Company does not use your information to make decisions on behalf of any school, and it does not report your activity to any educational institution.

Article 4 — Disclosure of Information

4.1. We do not sell your information. The Company does not sell or trade User information.

4.2. Service providers. The Company may share information with vetted providers that perform payment processing, hosting, authentication, or analytics on its behalf, each bound by contract to protect that information and to use it only for the purposes we specify.

4.3. Legal grounds. The Company may disclose information where it reasonably believes disclosure is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, to enforce this Policy or the Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, its Users, or the public.

4.4. No sharing with institutions or platforms. The Company does not disclose User information to schools, Apex Learning, Edmentum, or any other learning platform. The Company operates independently and keeps User activity confidential.

4.5. Business transfers. If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, User information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and this Policy will continue to govern the transferred information unless and until it is superseded.

Article 5 — Retention

5.1. The Company retains information only for as long as it is needed to provide the Service, to satisfy the purposes described in this Policy, or to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

5.2. You may request deletion of your information as described in Article 8, subject to any retention the Company is legally required to observe.

Article 6 — Security

6.1. The Company applies administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss, including access controls, encryption of sensitive data where appropriate, session management, and periodic review.

6.2. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and the Company cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your own account, including by using a strong password and keeping your credentials confidential.

Article 7 — Children's Privacy

7.1. The Service is intended for Users aged 13 and older, and the Company does not knowingly collect information from a child under the age of 13 without verified parental consent.

7.2. If the Company learns that it has collected information from a child under 13 without such consent, it will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided information to the Company, please contact us using the details in Article 9.

Article 8 — Your Choices

8.1. Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your information, request a copy of it, object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw a previously given consent.

8.2. To make a request, contact the Company using the details in Article 9. The Company will respond within the period required by applicable law.

9.1. The Company may update this Policy from time to time. Revisions take effect upon posting to the website, and the "Last Updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after a revision is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
